About 90-minute Sessions: Standard practice is to conduct 50-minute sessions and spend the remaining 10 minutes on notes. For couples wanting a more indepth experience, I also offer 90-minute sessions, and spend 30 minutes (after each session) logging insights and designing between-session activities tailored to each client’s needs.

I offer 90-minute sessions as they are in-depth, memorable, effective for addressing emergent situations, and sufficient for completing structured interventions.

By lengthening sessions to 90-minutes, and massing sessions (bunching them closer together in the first month), I create a more effective schedule of therapy than infrequent and longer enduring schedules (once every two weeks) ongoing.

About 90-minute Sessions:

I offer ninety-minute and fifty-minute in-person sessions of Lifespan Integration Therapy for individuals seeking relief from breakup trauma and/or betrayal trauma. Depending on the depth of the trauma, clients can experience a notable difference in their thoughts and emotions toward the traumatic event in as little as two one hour sessions.

Massing and Fading | 90- Minute Schedules for Couples

Generally speaking, massing therapy at the beginning of treatment, and fading out as symptoms reduce is an effective approach to scheduling treatment.

Below is an outline for effective frequency using the 90-minute session. The timed structure of the session is different for every couple as everyone brings their own individual concerns to therapy and unfolds their experience at a different pace. The timed structure of the therapy noted below is NOT SET IN STONE, and is intended only as a guideline. Other variables that could affect this schedule include affordability, scheduling conflicts, and each couple's varying need for therapy such as each partner's need for trauma therapy alongside couples counselling. On that note, for some, treatment will be significantly shorter than for others.

Cancellation and Accountability Policy

This policy is intended to prevent inconsistency and assure a timely schedule of practice. The cancellation fee deters cancellations, no-shows, encourages accountability, and compensates for the following:

  • The time slot that was cancelled won’t be given to another client.

  • The time slot that was cancelled prevents alternate arrangements/plans by the therapist.

  • Cancellations leave the therapist with an unpredictable income. â€‹

All cancellations must be made through email to Sarah at: sarah@turntowardstherapy.com or through text to Sarah at (250) 808-9679.

  • First time cancellations get a free pass and are reminded of the cancellation policy.

  • Cancellations made within 48 hours of the session date/time are charged: The full session fee.

  • No shows are charged: The full session fee

Definitions:

No Show- when a client does not show up to the scheduled appointment and does NOT notify the therapist.

Cancellation- when the client is unable to make an appointment but notifies the therapist.

Rescheduling- when a client is unable to make an appointment and they cancel to reschedule. Rescheduling a cancelled appointment does NOT negate the cancellation fee.
